Director: Ratnakumar
Cast: Pavan, Senthil, Azhagan Thamizhmani, Vellai Pandi, Priyanka, Sunu Lakshmi, Singampuli
Violence serves no purpose. Anger and agony kills. This is the crux of Rathnakumar’s Sengathu Bhoomiyilae.
The movie is an emotional tale that is melodramatic at places.
Thanks to Ilayaraja’s background score, the film manages to serve the purpose. Set in Madurai heartland, the movie has limited character but carries a lofty theme.
Vallarasu (Pavan) and Chinnasamy (Senthil) are reatives and share a good rapport.
There is Vairasilai (Priyanka), Vallarasu’s sister in love with Chinnasamy and Jayakodi (Sunulakshmi), Chinnasamy’s sister in love with Vallarasu.
Turn of events leads to family feud lead to enemity between Vallarasu and Chinnasamy. They want to take revenge on each other. Caught between are two girls.
Pavan and Senthil have played their part well. Equally good are Priyanka and Sunulakshmi. Their performance towards the climax is worthmentioning. Singam Puli evokes humour. But Ilayaraja’s background score evokes all emotions.
Sengathu Bhoomiyilae by Rathnakumar is a film that is most needed in today’s violent world.
Verdict: One against violence
Rating: 4/10
